This course is a comprehensive overview of the materials, approaches, techniques and elements of oil painting. In addition to learning how to stretch and prime canvas, you will be taught more complex colour theory and palette organization, methods of paint application, plus health and safety issues related to the medium. Each class will focus on one stage in the development of the painted image from sketch to finished painting. As the course progresses, you will be encouraged to pursue personal imagery and painting techniques.
