Director's Message

Welcome to your new AGO

Matthew Teitelbaum, Michael and Sonja Koerner Director, and CEO

Being a part of the AGO has never been more exciting! Founded in 1900, the Art Gallery of Ontario is one of the leading art museums in North America. Our spaces have been transformed by internationally celebrated architect Frank Gehry, while the generosity of the late Ken Thomson has transformed our collections. Now, let our commitment to innovation and creativity transform your AGO experience!

On behalf of our staff and volunteers, I welcome you to your new AGO – an international landmark and Canada’s newest cultural destination. Join us and experience more than 4,000 artworks in 110 galleries.

At the new AGO, there’s so much to see and do that you’ll want to return time and again to reconnect with art, architecture and culture. You can experience all of this and more, when you become an AGO member.

Experience your AGO, your way. Discover almost 50 percent more Gallery space and new orientation hubs for our collections and program areas – African / Oceanic, Canadian, Contemporary, European, Photography, Prints and Drawings, and Education. Both art experts and novices will make new connections to art through interactive media, artmaking, feedback stations and discussion forums.

During your visit take some time to savour the fare in our new restaurant FRANK, or visit our casual café. Browse the new, multi-level shop AGO featuring books, prints, jewellery, and one-of-a-kind gifts. Explore the Anne Tanenbaum Gallery School and take part in an art class.

It’s a new chapter for the AGO and we’re glad you’re a part of it.
