Photographic Resources
Photographic Resources provides for sale or loan of photographic materials of the Art Gallery of Ontario's collection, exhibitions and Gallery events.
Orders may be placed by mail or by post (please give as complete a description of your requirements as possible). Generally, a minimum of three weeks is required, but delivery time varies depending upon the complexity of the assignment and the size of the order.
Advance payment in Canadian funds is required on all orders. Approved accounts may submit a purchase order. All Ontario orders are subject to Ontario sales tax. All Canadian orders are subject to GST. Service charges for postage and handling will be applied.
As of November 27, 2006, Photographic Resources will operate solely on an appointment basis, through to the completion of construction. During this period we will endeavour to provide as much assistance as possible, but thank you for your understanding as we experience the inevitable disruptions to our operations during construction.
Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm by appointment only.
Reproduction and Rights
Reproductions may not be made from colour photographs or 35mm slides.
The sale of photographs and loan of transparencies do not include reproduction rights. Written permission for reproduction in any medium must be obtained from the Art Gallery of Ontario. Please apply in writing stating use of material and publication date. Before reproduction may take place, the conditions and terms as outlined in our Reproduction Rights Form must be accepted by the user and prepayment for photographic materials must be made. The Reproduction Rights Form and pro-forma invoice are provided upon application to reproduce a work of art.
Reproduction fees are charged when a work of art is used for purposes similar to those for which publishers and producers normally pay (ie. designs, illustrations, photographs, etc.)
Fees are applied to reproductions when used for:
- Books, journals and magazines brochures, flyers and all advertising material
- Large format reproductions for retail and wholesale markets, and for such items as postcards, greeting cards, calendars, etc.
- Television, film, video, audio-visual presentations
- Digital imaging, CD-ROM, software and multi-media
- CD/cassette covers
- Packaging and products
The Art Gallery of Ontario may opt to take royalties in lieu of fee.
No fees are applied when reproductions used for:
- Magazines and periodicals or publications promoting the collection and activities of the Art Gallery of Ontario
- Media releases for publicity promoting exhibitions of the Art Gallery of Ontario
